Councils: Where Do You Fit In

Why Pick One?  Join As Many As You Want!

Councils are sub-groups of Members of the Silicon Valley Central Chamber of Commerce (SVC Chamber), formed within the SVC Chamber, that focus on a particular niche of Membership to which those Members believe align them with other similar Members (like a Facebook or Reddit group, but real, live, and in-person). When these niche groups grow in the number of Members, the SVC Chamber creates a Council.

Membership in some SVC Chamber Councils are included with SVC Chamber Membership while others have additional annual dues. Involvement in Councils requires SVC Chamber Membership or payment at the non-member rate. If additional dues are required, they are listed below. Also Note: that some Councils may charge an event registration fee, usually if there is food served (in those cases, Members of the SVC Chamber will always receive a much-discounted price over non-members).

The most important thing to know about Councils is… the Council name and focus is what they do, it IS NOT a limiting factor for you. If you would like to be there or think you should be a part, then do so – don’t hold back.

Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB)

Annual CVB Dues for SVC Chamber Members: $500

Annual CVB Dues for non-members of SVC Chamber: $900

Focused on tourism, travel, and tranplants (relocation) to Silicon Valley in the form of vacations, conferences, conventions, seminars, business meetings, relocations for work or pleasure (or both), the CVB is about all-things tourist, traveler, and transplant. CVB dues gains Members an automatic listing on www.VisitSiliconValley.org, the hottest spot on the web for information about this place we Live, Work, Play, and call Home. Plus, only CVB Members can take advantage of many other promotional and advertising opportunities, through Visit Silicon Valley, that drive business to your door and visitors to the region.

This Council welcomes Members who value visitors, tourism, travel, and relocation to Silicon Valley. Though the focus is on promoting Silicon Valley as a region, if you believe you are outside of the official lines of the Valley, you are still encouraged to participate (See We are Silicon Valley for the official boundary lines - here's a hint: there really aren't any).

Silicon Valley Young Professionals (SVYP)

Included with SVC Chamber Dues

Focused on career growth, professional development, meeting (and becoming) who’s who in the valley, and issues of interest to Members under the age of forty, this is the place to be if you are young (or young in spirit), full of energy, and want to change the world. SVYP Meet-ups are some of the most dynamic, motivational, and FUN in the entire bay area (not to mention, often the largest events of their kind).

This Council welcomes Members of all ages who want to interact with the future Leaders of the Chamber and the Silicon Valley region. Though the activities and agendas cater to the young professional, if you would like to be there, then be there. Don’t let your birthdate hold you back (we do not card at the door to keep the “40-and-over” crowd out).

Women in Business (WIB)

Included with SVC Chamber Dues

Inspiration Gatherings to empower diverse Women Entrepreneurs, Professionals, and Leaders to achieve their highest potential through collaborative initiatives focusing on networking & professional development.

This Council welcomes all Members, no matter what your gender identity, who ARE women, SUPPORT women, want to LEARN MORE about challenges & opportunities for women, or believe they can GROW themselves by being present. Though the activities and agendas cater to Women in Business, if you would like to be there, then be there. Don’t let your gender hold you back (we won’t even ask).

Santa Clara Business Council (SCBC)

Included with SVC Chamber Dues

Dedicated to the business & economic within the City of Santa Clara, this Council is the place to be if you are doing business, or want to be doing business, in Santa Clara. The Council regularly hears from city council elected-officials, city staff, and the movers & shakers in the Santa Clara Business community. Council Members are the first to know everything about Santa Clara – what’s coming, what’s going, why, when, and how. You should come to know, too.

If you are a mover & shaker, or want to be, this Council welcomes you. Whether you DO BUSINESS in Santa Clara, WANT TO DO BUSINESS in Santa Clara, or just want to know more, then be there. Don’t let your zip code hold you back (we won’t even make you show off your moves or do your secret shake).

Sunnyvale Business Council (SBC)

Included with SVC Chamber Dues

By popular demand, this is the newest Council of the Silicon Valley Central Chamber (SVC Chamber). Focused on growing Sunnyvale with an eye toward LIVE-ability, WORK-ability, and PLAY-ability, Council Members are all about the City of Sunnyvale. This is not the largest Council in the SVC Chamber, but it is the fastest growing with the most potential. It is the place to be if you are doing business, or want to be doing business, in Sunnyvale. The Council plans to hear regularly from city council elected-officials, city staff, and the A-list in the Sunnyvale business community. Be a newsmaker in Sunnyvale; or, at least, be aware of all the news, rules, regulations, and opportunities to help you succeed in business in Sunnyvale.

If you are an A-lister in Sunnyvale, or think you should be, this Council is your new home. Whether you LIVE in Sunnyvale, WORK in Sunnyvale, or PLAY in Sunnyvale, or just want to be informed, then be there. Don’t let a few invisible lines on a map hold you back (we won’t even make you show your A-list credentials).
